Ro Body Program Review 2026: Branded GLP-1s, Real Costs, and Who It Fits

What is Ro Body, and is it legit?

Ro is a telehealth company founded in 2017. Telehealth means your visits happen online. Its Body Program is its weight-loss service.

GLP-1s are drugs that copy a gut hormone to curb appetite. Ro only prescribes brand-name GLP-1s approved by the FDA: Wegovy, Zepbound, Foundayo, Ozempic and Saxenda. It no longer sells compounded semaglutide or tirzepatide. Compounded means a pharmacy mixes its own version, which the FDA does not approve. Ro's clinicians prescribe, and licensed pharmacies dispense.

That choice matters now. The drug shortages that allowed mass compounding ended in late 2024 and early 2025. In April 2026, the FDA also proposed barring outsourcing facilities, the large compounding plants, from making these drugs. As of early October 2026, the FDA had not made that rule final. Ro patients avoid that supply risk, because their drugs come from the makers under full FDA oversight. The trade-off is price. Brand-name drugs cost clearly more than compounded ones.

How does Ro Body work?

You pay one membership fee for all your care. The drug is billed on top. Prepaying the membership lowers its monthly cost.

Here is how the program runs, step by step.

• Intake: you fill in a health questionnaire online.
• Consultation: a Ro clinician reviews your answers, by video or by message, and decides if a GLP-1 suits you.
• Prescription: if you qualify, they prescribe an FDA-approved GLP-1.
• Insurance help: Ro handles the prior authorization. That is the approval your insurer may require before it pays.
• Lab test: one metabolic test at Quest is included when your clinician orders it. Extra tests cost more.
• Follow-up: ongoing coaching and check-ins with your clinician.
• Delivery: cash orders ship to your door. With insurance, you pick the drug up at your pharmacy.

So your monthly cost is two bills added together. Say you take the Wegovy pill at its lowest dose. From month two, you pay about $150 for the membership and about $150 for the drug. That makes about $300 a month. Knowing this upfront avoids a surprise at checkout.

Which GLP-1 medications does Ro offer?

Ro's menu is shorter than that of compounded services. It still covers the main weight-loss GLP-1s on the market. The newest options are two pills, the Wegovy pill and Foundayo. They give women who dislike needles a real FDA-approved pill.

Foundayo is orforglipron, a daily GLP-1 pill from Eli Lilly. The FDA approved it on April 1, 2026. Unlike the Wegovy pill, you can take it at any time, with or without food or water. It suits you if a strict morning pill routine would be hard to keep.

Zepbound is the clinical choice if semaglutide did not work well enough for you. It also suits you if you want the most effective drug from the start.

Ozempic, prescribed off-label

Ozempic is a semaglutide shot approved for type 2 diabetes. Doctors often prescribe it off-label for weight loss, meaning for a use outside its approval. Ro can prescribe it in some cases. Its price depends mostly on your insurance, not on a fixed Ro price. Without coverage, the Wegovy pen is usually the simpler choice.

Saxenda, an older daily shot

Saxenda is liraglutide, an earlier GLP-1 approved for weight loss. You inject it once a day. Ro lists no cash price for it, so it mainly makes sense if your insurance covers it.

How much does Ro Body cost all-in?

Everyone pays the membership, whatever drug they take. From month two, your monthly total is the membership plus your drug.

Compounded semaglutide at other services often costs about $100 to $200 a month. So Ro costs clearly more. Ro's case is fair, though. You get FDA-approved drugs, a lab test and coaching, plus real help with insurance. If your plan covers Wegovy or Zepbound, that help can cut your drug cost to a small copay. A copay is the fixed share you pay at the pharmacy.

What does the Ro membership include that others don't?

The membership bundles services that other platforms often bill extra or skip. Here is what it buys.

• A lab test: one metabolic test at Quest when your clinician orders it. Extra tests cost more. In states without Quest, Ro mails a free home kit.
• A health coach: one-on-one support with habits and eating.
• Insurance help: Ro staff handle the paperwork and push for coverage. They cannot help with Medicare, Medicaid or other government plans.
• Clinician visits: included for as long as you are a member, with no per-visit fee.
• Brand-name drugs only: no supply risk from compounding pharmacies.
• Prescription help: support to fill your drug if your insurer approves it.

In perimenopause or menopause, that included test is a real help. Your clinician may want metabolic checks before and during treatment. Having one covered trims a cost other platforms often bill separately.

Who is Ro Body best for?

Ro fits best if you want an FDA-approved GLP-1. Maybe you want the certainty of a finished drug, or your clinician prefers it. Or your insurance may cover Wegovy or Zepbound, and you want experts to chase that coverage.

• Adults who meet the weight criteria and want FDA-approved, not compounded, GLP-1s. That usually means a BMI, a weight-for-height score, of 30 or more. A BMI of 27 or more also counts with a weight-related condition such as high blood pressure.
• Women who dislike needles and want an FDA-approved pill, the Wegovy pill or Foundayo.
• Women whose insurance may cover Wegovy or Zepbound and who need help with prior authorization.
• Women in perimenopause or menopause who want a lab test built into their program.
• Anyone who puts a steady drug supply ahead of the lowest cash price.
• Anyone who wants Zepbound without dealing with LillyDirect alone.

Ro is a weaker fit if you want the lowest possible bill, or need compounded drugs to afford treatment. Ro Body is also not offered in Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi or Virginia.

It is not a menopause service either. Its focus is weight. If you want hormone therapy with your GLP-1, you will need a separate provider.

Our verdict on Ro Body

Ro Body is the cleaner, pricier path to a GLP-1 online. Selling only brand-name drugs removes the compounding risk that has tripped up rivals. The membership bundles coaching and a lab test that others charge for. The Wegovy pill and Foundayo add FDA-approved pills that did not exist a few years ago.

If you are cost-conscious and fine with compounded drugs, Ro will feel expensive. If you want clinical certainty, help with insurance and one package of care, the membership makes more sense than it first seems.
