NovoCare self-pay pill: the cheapest brand-name Wegovy

NovoCare Pharmacy is Novo Nordisk selling to you directly. There is no membership fee and no middleman markup. You still need a prescription from your own doctor or a telehealth provider.

The Wegovy pill was approved in December 2025. It costs about $150 a month at the 1.5 mg starting dose and about $200 at 4 mg. From the 9 mg dose, usually month three, it costs about $300. You take it daily on an empty stomach. Then you wait at least 30 minutes before eating or drinking.

NovoCare self-pay pen: about $350 a month after a cheaper start

The pen is the weekly shot most of the clinical data is built on. New patients pay about $200 for the first two fills at the two lowest doses, through December 31, 2026. After that it costs about $350 a month. The strongest 7.2 mg HD pen costs about $400.

GoodRx: the same Novo price at your local pharmacy

Since January 2026, GoodRx shows Novo Nordisk's own cash price at more than 70,000 pharmacies. So it is not cheaper than NovoCare, just more convenient if you want local pickup. For the pen, GoodRx no longer gives the two cheaper first fills. Its own $199 offer ended in March 2026. TrumpRx.gov, the government's drug price website, lists the same Novo price. Its coupon still includes the two cheaper first pen fills at your local pharmacy. You cannot combine GoodRx with insurance or the savings card.

Mochi Health: the lowest compounded price

Compounded semaglutide is the same active ingredient, made by a licensed pharmacy for one patient. It is not FDA-approved Wegovy.

Mochi Health prices the medicine by dose, from about $60 to about $190 a month. Its membership adds about $80. That is about $140 a month all-in at the lowest dose and about $180 at 2.67 mg. The top 6.48 mg dose reaches about $270.

Fridays: about $150 a month if you prepay a year

Fridays includes visits, dietitian access and coaching. On the prepaid annual plan, it works out to about $150 a month. Month to month, it is about $280.

Henry Meds: visits and medicine in one price, pill or shot

Henry Meds bundles the medicine, visits and shipping into one price with no membership. The compounded semaglutide shot costs about $300 month to month, or about $200 a month on a 12-month prepay. The pill costs about $250 month to month. Henry says the price can change with your dose. Labs are not included.

How much does Wegovy cost without insurance?

The figure that circulates most is the list price, about $1,350 a month for the pen or the pill. That is Novo's price before any discount, the starting point for insurers. None of the six paths above charges it.

Novo Nordisk will cut that list price to $675 a month on January 1, 2027. Novo says the cut does not change its self-pay prices. So NovoCare stays the price to compare.

Insurance denied Wegovy? You are not stuck at retail

Which Novo program applies depends on whether your plan covers Wegovy, not on whether you have insurance at all.

• Your plan covers Wegovy: the savings card lets you pay as little as $25 a month. Novo pays up to $100 a month of your copay.
• Your plan denied or excludes Wegovy: you use the same self-pay offer as someone with no insurance. The savings card then gets you that self-pay price at your local pharmacy.
• No insurance at all: the same self-pay offer, at the same price.
• No worse tier exists: having insurance that said no does not cost you more.

Is compounded semaglutide legal, and how is it different?

Yes, compounded semaglutide is legal when a licensed pharmacy makes it for one patient, on a prescription. The wide compounding allowed during the shortage ended once semaglutide came off the FDA shortage list.

On April 30, 2026, the FDA proposed not adding semaglutide to the list that large outsourcing facilities, called 503B, can compound from. Comments closed on July 30, 2026, and there is no final decision. Mochi and Henry Meds say they use both 503A and 503B pharmacies. Fridays does not say which type fills each order.

Wegovy pill vs pen: does the price differ?

Yes. The pill costs less at every step, about $150 to $300 a month. The pen costs about $350 after its two cheaper starting fills, and about $400 at the HD dose.

Price is not the only factor. The pen has far more years of use behind it. The pill is newer and must be taken daily on an empty stomach.

• NovoCare pen: about $4,240 in year one, counting the two cheaper fills. After that, about $4,540 a year, or about $5,190 on the HD pen. Each box lasts 28 days, so a year takes 13 boxes.
• Mochi Health: about $2,135 a year once you reach the 2.67 mg dose. About $1,775 if you prepay a year of membership. Year one costs less, because you start on lower doses.
• Fridays: about $1,800 for a prepaid year. Month to month, about $3,350.
• Henry Meds shot: about $2,365 for a prepaid year. Month to month, about $3,565.
• List price, no program: about $17,500 a year for the pen at the 2026 list price.

Denied coverage? Try an appeal before you pay cash

First denials for weight-loss GLP-1s are common. Many come down to paperwork rather than a firm medical no. An appeal can take a week or two, so it is worth trying before you commit to cash pay.

• Ask for the reason. A missing prior authorization, missing BMI records or a plan exclusion each need a different fix.
• Document everything. Your prescriber's letter should list your BMI, related conditions such as high blood pressure or sleep apnea, and past weight-loss efforts.
• Check with HR. If the plan excludes weight-loss drugs, ask whether your employer changed coverage this year.
• Then compare cash prices. If the appeal fails, the self-pay options above are your real choices.

• No real prescriber. No prescription needed, or a quiz that issues one with no licensed clinician reviewing it.
• "Wegovy" far below Novo's price. A seller offering brand-name Wegovy for much less than NovoCare's self-pay price.
• No named pharmacy. No verifiable, US-licensed pharmacy behind the product.
• Misleading labels. Phrases like "generic Wegovy" or "FDA-approved compound" describe no real compounded product.
• Payment before review. You pay before any clinician confirms you are a candidate.
